Statement of Faith

What we believe.

The convictions that shape our worship, discipleship, and mission as Church Xtended.

A. The Word of God

We believe that only the sixty-six books of the Bible, in their original languages, are the inspired and inerrant Word of God. The Bible is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live.

B. God

We believe the one true God exists eternally in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — equal in deity, power, and glory. God is infinite in love, perfect in judgments, and unchanging in righteousness and mercy.

1. God the Father

God the Father is eternal, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent — the source of all that exists. In love He both seeks and receives penitent sinners.

2. God the Son

Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, the Son of God — fully God and fully man, conceived of a virgin, sinless, crucified for sinners, bodily raised on the third day, ascended to the Father, and returning to reign in righteousness.

3. The Holy Spirit

The Lord Jesus Christ baptises believers in the Holy Spirit, who regenerates, indwells, and equips the Christian for godly living and service. The gifts of the Spirit described in the New Testament are operative today.

C. Salvation

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. No ordinance, ritual, or work is required or accepted for salvation. This saving grace also sanctifies us, progressively conforming us to the image of Christ.

D. Evil

Satan rebelled against God and was cast out of His presence. He was judged and defeated at the cross of Christ and will ultimately be cast forever into the lake of fire.

E. Humanity

Humanity, male and female, was originally created in the image of God, righteous and without sin. As a consequence of disobedience, all persons are sinners by both nature and choice, wholly unable to save themselves.

F. The Church

The Church is a community of redeemed people worldwide under the Lordship of Jesus. Christ has given the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers — and every Christian is called to be joined with and actively involved in a local community of the saints.

G. Sacraments

Water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances of the Church, to be observed until Christ's return. Immersion is our primary mode of baptism, and the Lord's Supper renews our covenant with God and one another.

H. Missions and Service

God has called the Church to work together in unity and honour — preaching the gospel to all nations, making disciples, and remembering the poor through sacrificial giving and practical service.
